John I. Zoller, oldest son of Jacob and Mary (Dygert) Zoller, is president of the Jacob Zoller Company of Little Falls, New York, and was born in Fords Bush, in the town of Minden, Montgomery County, New York, on the 5th day of May, 1873. After completing the course of the local high school, then known as the Little Falls Academy, in 1890, he entered the Clinton Liberal Institute at Fort Plain, New York, from which he was graduated a year later. The next four years were spent at Williams College, Williamstown, Massachusetts, where he obtained the degree of Bachelor of Arts, as a member of the class of 1895. After leaving college he became actively associated with his father in the latter's extensive business enterprises in Little Falls and elsewhere, and when the Jacob Zoller Company was incorporated in 1907, following the death of the father, John I. Zoller was made the president of the new organization, which office he has held to the present day. The business has been continued along the lines laid down by the founder a generation or so ago, but has been, of course, modified from time to time, to meet the new needs of a constantly changing business world.

For many years Mr. Zoller has been a member of the board of directors of the Little Falls National Bank of Little Falls; was secretary and a director of the C. J. Lundstrom Manufacturing Company from the time of its organization until 1920; and was also vice president and a director of the Valley Mills Company from its incorporation in 1907 until 1922.

As a member of the Universalist church, Mr. Zoller has been a very active layman. For several years he was a member of the board of trustees of the New York State Convention of Universalist, during part of which time he also served as the treasurer of the board. For more than twenty-five years he was superintendent of the Sunday school of St. Paul's Universalist church of Little Falls, having resigned in 1915 to become teacher of the Men's Bible class. At present he is a trustee of Canton Theological School of St. Lawrence University. In college, Mr. Zoller was a member of the Theta Delta Chi fraternity, being one of the early members of the chapter established at Williams. For upward of twenty-five years he has been a member of the American Mechanics, an order that is now known as the Order of United American Men.

In politics Mr. Zoller is a republican. Although he has never held public office he has always been deeply interested in good government and has taken a large and active part in promoting the welfare and progress of his city.. Since its appointment in 1916 Mr. Zoller has been a member of the Railroad Grade Crossing Commission, which has been studying the problem of eliminating grade crossings within the city of Little Falls (Herkimer County, New York).

On the 31st of July, 1907, in Madison County, New York, Mr. Zoller was married to Miss Imogene Lewis, daughter of William B. and Sarah (Anson) Lewis. The daughter and granddaughter of New York farmers, Mrs. Zoller was born on the old family homestead in Madison County, near Solsville. Her great-great-grandfather, Judson Lewis, had come from Stratsford, Connecticut. He married Elizabeth Whiting, who was a lineal descendant of Governor William Bradford of Plymouth Colony fame.

Like her husband Mrs. Zoller is an active member of the Universalist church and participates in the work of the Sunday school and missionary society. She belongs to Astenrogen Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and is a member of the Fortnightly Club of Little Falls. In civic work she has been particularly active, being a member of the Republican County committee for Herkimer County, and of the County Board of Child Welfare.

Mrs. Zoller was a member of the board of education of the city of Little Falls from May, 1919, to May, 1922, being the second woman member appointed to serve on that board. She was president of the board the last year of her term, having had the honor of being the first woman to serve as president of the board of education in the history of the city.

Mr. and Mrs. Zoller have had four children, three of whom are living: John Jacob was born June 29, 1910; Sarah Imogene was born December 28, 1911; Lewis William was born February 21, 1915; and Murray Dygert was born February 5, 1917, and died on December 4, 1920.
